Greetings Wayfarers,

You know, SunshineFM was always intended to be a space to share the latest and greatest in the world of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and a place to discuss how AI would impact and affect us here in Palm Springs Coachella. It was also my effort of attracting founders, startups, and businesses to the valley to help seed and level-up a community of like-minded entrepreneurs to gather, share best-practices, co-create and build something valuable.

Remember, no-one’s an AI expert, we’re all just experimenting.

And given that I’d been working on launching a “Coworking Space” in the valley for many years - fun fact: I actually came pretty close a few years back with investor-backing and a great spot on El Paseo, but it was just before the pandemic - it now seems like a no-brainer that a physical location focused on AI startups and education should also be a fantastic goal to shoot for.

So today, I’m happy to announce our big, hairy audacious goal (BHAG), reset and level-set expectations and to share some notes that’ll elevate our community for an even brighter future in our AI ventures in Palm Springs Coachella.

But first, a massive THANK YOU to each and every one of you. Your enthusiasm, ideas, and support have been the wind beneath these solar-powered wings, and I couldn't be more grateful.

The New Tagline

SunshineFM: Business Radio for Palm Springs Coachella. Sure, it sounds like a radio station. So a quick back-story:

I was actually planning on launching the desert’s first Onchain Radio Station, built on blockchain rails and using onchain superpowers of authenticity, provenance, digital collectibles, tokens and above all, shared ownership. But the media and everyone got caught up in the negativity, the scams, the casino-culture of crypto and ignored the underlying technology. The good news now is that much of this idea and the notes jotted down on my whiteboard for a radio format of the future may actually have a better chance of materializing given the recent innovations of ChatGPT and Generative-AI.

So yeah, SunshineFM: Business Radio for Palm Springs Coachella is a radio station of sorts. A mix of newsletters, live streams, podcasts, call-ins, conversation and music, a college-radio meets public-radio meets AI innovation, built by the community, for the community, a community-owned radio station.

Factor in digital collectibles, fire merch, a token economy, IRL events and an AI Founders’ House sometime in the future, and bob’s your uncle, now we’re cooking.

I’m imagining a place where entrepreneurs, founders, and AI enthusiasts come together to learn, collaborate, and innovate. An exclusive AI Campus slash Clubhouse that offers:

• Workspace: A collaborative environment designed to foster creativity and productivity

While the ultimate goal is ambitious, let’s start with what we do well: startup ideas, newsletters and community. Here’s what’s up in the short-term:

• SunshineFM Newsletter: Daily and weekly newsletters with the latest AI news, views, trends, practical tips, and transformative insights that I find interesting. Because AI is coming, like it or not.

• AI City Minutes: Weekly summaries and data dashboards from local city council and committee minutes, our AI efforts to develop a well-informed citizenry.

• 8-Track Radio: A fun venture into nostalgia celebrating the iconic music, fashion, and culture of the 8-Track Era (1965-1987), something I refer to as the bridge across generations.
